Andrea Penton, PhD

Dr Penton graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with a bachelor’s degree in genetics. Dr Penton is certified in clinical cytogenetics by the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics and is a fellow of the American College of Medical Genetics. She earned a PhD in oncology from the University of Wisconsin, Madison and did postdoctoral research at Stanford University. She was a research associate and clinical cytogenetics fellow in the Department of Pathology at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

Dr Penton serves as a technical director at the Center for Molecular Biology and Pathology located within Research Triangle Park in North Carolina. She is passionate about providing accurate and timely genetic testing results to patients. In addition, she is fascinated by genetic mechanisms and aneuploidy correction during human development. When not working, Dr Penton enjoys gardening, hiking, and music.
